GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

he's just like that so we don't feel bad/ usagi doesn't look bad for "ruining" his career. i know a heel turn for plot purposes when i see one

Yo mama • 1 year ago

whatever the case i got a good laugh outta it and i bet u did too

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

lol fo sho. he had those "don't sleep tonight" vibes on the way out despite not really wanting to be there

kaeyasupremacy • 1 year ago

HIS EXPRESSION GOT ME CRACKING UP

Kirito • 1 year ago

I feel sorry for him because he got eliminated and it's all because of his friend

Navjot kaur Heer • 1 year ago

Bro if you are bothered by THIS. Then i don't know what will happen to you after knowing rest of the story😂😂

Lost In Reverie • 1 year ago

I don't really think it was plot purposes. He just got told his dream isn't possible anymore because he lost some seemingly unrelated game. Who wouldn't be livid?

Zhang Qiling • 1 year ago

True, but who cares if Usagi be bad? The whole dark and fucked up mentality of this anime instead of the Nakama bullshit they have been drilling into our minds since we started watching anime is what makes it truly interesting, relatable, and realistic.
If Blue Lock keep improving like this every passing episode, it will be on my top 10 anime list by the end of it which I never thought will ever happen since I was never into sports in real life nor I know that much about them to begin with (Yet I watch tons of sports animes for some odd reason...lol). Ao Ashi was quite nice, but Blue Lock is already 10 times better in my opinion.

Raz Zonism • 1 year ago

Yeah, it might have been better if he just got depressed over the news, giving more weight to the protagonist's actions, while also showing his lack of an ego which would tie better into the story's themes.

MonarchOfTheShadows • 1 year ago

I mean it is kinda harsh saying his career is ruined cuz he can always try his luck abroad, just not with the Japan National Team

Still he is the kind of person who doesn't really deserve it or at least that should be the case if he doesn't change his attitude

00ammy00 • 1 year ago

I mean, him being nice could still be his true personality, but it's understandable that he would be super pissed at the MC for what he did.

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 1 year ago

That's bcs people like Kira 'don't really exist'. Each of us have to behave nice with each other bcs of the social norms, status quos and rules that society bind us with. Non of us really choose to be nice like that. All we do is be have nice bcs 'everyone else dos it'. It is fake. Kira exposed his true character 'as a human being'. Nobody is actually nice or supposed to be nice! Its all a disguise and a fakeness that the world has adapted to the point where they even believe it as it being true. We are all the same as Kira. Just that most of us will never expose it to others.

Asagrimmr • 1 year ago

Awful personality copium

TensaiTensi • 1 year ago

That's one way to cope with being an asshole

Rinn • 1 year ago

Just cause you're a terrible person doesn't mean we all are lmfao

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 1 year ago

I am the least terrible out of all of you bcs I at least come honest about it. You fake asses are all the same! Learn to own your shit at least instead of pretending to be fake angels you rejects!

Kirito • 1 year ago

It's in the nature of humans

Mohammad Haider • 1 year ago

Okita sougo.......

Veldora • 1 year ago

I mean, getting rid of a character like that works. And they can bring him back if needed or use for something different. But yeah, had me dying as well.

User • 1 year ago

Not me though, I pity that side character. Author just made him like so we don't feel bad for him or hate the MC

Kirito • 1 year ago

I feel bad for kira he was just a nice guy and he didn't expected that his friend will shoot at him

shinichi kudoz • 1 year ago

he will probably comeback someday one way or another

Mahra • 1 year ago

I think so too, a guy who looks exactly like him was shown in the OP song with another team.

Kirito • 1 year ago

Then that means he's gonna comeback and will fight the mc because he will remember this day the day his friend betrayed him and he will train really hard so that he can get his revenge that's probably what he will do

for reals bruh as soon as i saw Team X entering the field i instantly smiled and got chills 🥶 cant wait for the next ep

kaeyasupremacy • 1 year ago

i can tell who the leader is too lol

shinichi kudoz • 1 year ago

the background music made the entrance even more badass

Anonymous User • 1 year ago

Tbf anybody would be pissed if their entire career path ended with a kids game

Wasa B • 1 year ago

I’d say hes just frustrated he lost that way. If you were in his shoes and you were a prodigy and you ended up losing like that, howd you feel?

Anime God • 1 year ago

Yea i would rage too. might shoot all them in that rage for feeling tricked out my hardwork for a kids game loss.

Ieatanime • 1 year ago

Thisss I was like stop with this goody two shoes act pleaseee

Optimus Prime • 1 year ago

they always do this kind of thing whenever a good character about to get rid. so we dont feel bad for them.

Deus The Great • 1 year ago

We might see him in the future, who knows? Because the show literally told us that they only have Group B-Z but what about Group A? Group A might be in a special case for people who got lock off, selected again, and will train like madman because of their awaken ego and maybe hatred like Kira, and would become like their final boss. Gotta wait until they give us more information about Group A tbd.

Aiko • 1 year ago

SPOILER ALERT
i read from the manga that one of the members actually got locked off but got put back, i forgot the details but its like that

it's not kira, but the slight buff blonde hair kunigami. He is beast after his comeback.

GusGus • 1 year ago

He’s a boss doing whatever he wants

Dokkæbi • 1 year ago

I'm guessing he'll return somehow as a boss character in the future

Wonder what a match between these selfish players are going to be like

Alright so here are some references from the real world in Bluelock:

- Noel Noa, the striker Isagi's idol is based on Robert Lewandowski. The reason Noel is of French nationality is becz the manga was written in 2018 France also won the Fifa world cup in 2018.

- Itoshi Sae is based on Japan's biggest prodigy Takefusa Kubo.
It was 2018 when the contents of this episode were written in the manga. Kubo was a Real Madrid player in 2018-19 season but he never really played for them.
After a hand full of loan spells at fellow Spanish clubs, Kubo was recently (in 2022) sold to Real Sociedad, another big Spanish club (although not as big & prestigious as Real Madrid).
Kubo generally plays as a winger/attacking mid.

- The female character leading the press conference Teieri Anri's name is similar to French legendary forward Thierry henry.

What does J. Ego's speech from last episode mean & some parallels from his speech IRL

So before we start I will add the bench mark on the level of strikers we are talking about. The kind of striker J.Ego wants to produce are basically the Lewandowskis, the Ronaldos, the Suarez-esque strikers.

The main driving force for this speech is Japan's history of rarely producing a top level strikers.

Ofcourse there are the likes of Shinzuke Nakamura who was a good striker in his playing days at Celtic (2005 to 2009)
We also have Shinzi Okazaki who won the fairytale title with Leicester City (2015)
Kunishige Kamamoto, arguably the greatest Japanese striker of all time. But he played in the 1980s, he's history artifact now.

Now comparing the strikers above to the likes of modern day greats like Lewandowski, Benzema, Haaland we can see the huge difference in quality.

Kamamoto is surely the closest but he's history now.

Interestingly if we look at other positions, we will find players who are standing shoulder to shoulder with the players of European leagues.

Shinji Kagawa, Kaisuke Honda although are past their prime but at their peak they were very good attacking midfielders. I personally watched them play, Kagawa at Dortmund & Honda & Milan were different gravy.
•The current example is like I mentionedItoshi SaeTakefusa Kubo.

•In defensive positions the likes of Nagutomo (played 170 matches for Inter)
-Hiroshi Sakai (played 145 games for Marseille) and
-currently Arsenal fan favourite Takehiro Tomiyasu.
All three playing for massive clubs.

Now the strikers of recent history & the present time of Japan,
-Yuya Osako played for clubs with great history like Fc Koln & Bremen in Germany's Bundesliga but the thing is these clubs are struggling with relegation.
-Takumi Minamino: played for Liverpool but mostly was a bench player. Recently moved to France to join a top french club in As Monaco.
Minamino is although more of a winger/creative striker. Far from what J. Ego wants.

And that's basically it, a brief overlay of Japanese history.
Now it's clear Japan have not produced a striker as good as their best midfielder, or as good as their best defenders.

That's the reason J.Ego said the quote in the 1st episode:-

"You can train 1st rate goalkeeper, defenders & midfielders but strikers are different".

If you take this quote with respect to the world, it will just not make sense but with respect to Japan & their history, it fits well.

The concept of Ego for a striker

Now this is a concept for strikers but it doesn't mean other positions doesn't have anything to do with "Ego". (Just look at Sergio Ramos)

Everyone has an ego, even me writing this comment and you reading it. Ego is a feeling of self importance. There is no thing as a "no ego" person.

(Keep the meanings in your minds •Egoist: a selfish person, a self centred person.
•Egotist: a person who considers himself or herself to be better or more important than other people.)

Although the quote from Pele in the last episode was false (he never said it) but what the author was trying to signify was Pele's egoism & egotism.

Take an example from this quote from the man himself:- “Wherever you go, there are three icons that everyone knows: Jesus Christ, Coca-Cola and Pele” – Pele

Thats an ego of one of the greatest players of all time.

Similar thing with the current era greats. The top top tier striker like a Haaland or a Lewandowski only live for one thing i.e. goals.
On the pitch their no.1 priority is to always score goals, everything else comes 2nd.

That's what J. Ego was refering to in his speech last episode when he said "Nothing should bring you more joy than your own goal, Only live for for that moment"

This thing is actually very common. It's as common as a newspaperman delivering newspapers.

If you watchedAo Ashi from last season and if you remember Aoi also said the same things about his fixation with goals.

Instead of looking for a pass, you go for the goal. Striker will prefer to shoot the ball themselves rather than looking for a pass. That's a strikers selfishness & a striker's ego.

The philosophy of Bluelock is not complete selfishness. It was never complete selfishness.

Even a big Egoist like Pele said: “I am constantly being asked about individuals. The only way to win is as a team. Football is not about one or two or three star players.”

It's not about trying to dribble the entire pitch on your own. It is being selfish at the critical goal scoring moments. This is what J.Ego was always refering to.

Ego is important, but so is the quality of ego. A bad ego will sink you down like Nicklas Bendtner.

Also known as "Lord Bendtner" becz for refusing to train hard at times, not maintaining a proper diet & also skipping training as he claims he's already good enough.
He went from a potential superstar to a meme. All becz of his bad ego.

On the other hand, currently football's hottest property Erling Haaland said in an interview "I sleep with my hattrick balls as if they are my girlfriends".
That's some elite fixation with goals along with some elite ego.

Haaland is exactly what J.Ego wants as a striker. Just like he mentioned in his speech <b< i="">"You can't become the world's best striker unless you're the worlds biggest egoist."

Blue lock is not only about how the strikers develop with their skills, it is also about how their egos develop.

It is very unrealistic in other concepts but the concept of a strikers ego is spot on & that's the driving force of the story!
